Updox Brings Together Patient Engagement, Communication and Productivity into One CRM Solution

A single business management platform, with upcoming Secure Text and Messenger solutions, offering out-of-hospital healthcare providers critical ways to communicate with patients

MGMA – BOSTON – October 1, 2018 – Updox, the first single business platform for healthcare customer relationship management (CRM), today announces the addition of new solutions that expand the nation’s most advanced patient engagement, productivity and communication platform, challenging other vendors with its unified approach.

For years, healthcare providers in the out-of-hospital market have struggled with how to more effectively engage patients while running the business, treating patients and supporting staff.

“There’s no shortage of technology vendors or single-purpose point solutions in the market today. Many have been selling to the ambulatory market, yet we find most practices are not happy with the plethora of tools they have to use each day,” said Michael Morgan, CEO of Updox. “It’s no wonder why. Their desktops are cluttered with products that are often costly, hard-to-use or not integrated in terms of functions or data. Thankfully, this fragmented approach is no longer necessary.”

The Updox CRM platform offers out-of-hospital care providers – including physician practices, ambulatory care centers, specialty practices, post-acute and community pharmacies – a single unified platform to reduce time and cost spent using multiple patient engagement, internal productivity and provider communication solutions.

“The best part is that users love using Updox,” Morgan said. “Why is it important that out-of-hospital providers finally have a single platform for CRM? Because providers need to manage their practices or pharmacies as businesses to survive. They need to think about patients as customers and continually seek ways to improve. Without Updox, that wasn’t even possible. Now, with the range of solutions we offer, there's no reason an out-of-hospital provider should operate without Updox.”

“With Updox, I have been able to transform my office structure and provide my patients with improved care, quality and speed of service,” said James Legan, MD, an internist in private practice in Great Falls, Mont. “My nurse can manage everything, including our EHR, office schedule, communications and patient messaging, all at her fingertips and without jumping through different applications and programs. It’s given us great efficiency.”

As a single platform, Updox supports any type of patient communications to enable engagement – no matter what the patient’s preference is – with options for text, secure text, portal message, email and phone communications. With Updox, that communication can launch from one place.

“Imagine working on an order or a prior authorization using Updox. Upon completion, the patient can be updated via a text message and the results can be pushed to the EHR,” said Morgan. “There’s no need for sticky notes, spreadsheets or to-do lists as reminders of next steps or patient calls needing made.”

In August 2018, the company released Secure Text to a limited number of customers – offering providers an out-of-the-box-ready, HIPAA-compliant SMS solution. With Secure Text, healthcare providers can quickly and effectively reach the majority of the patients through their mobile phones.

In September 2018, Updox followed with the additional limited release of Messenger for beta testing with select customers. Messenger is a new collaboration product that will allow providers to securely communicate both internally and externally in real time. Users of Messenger will have the option of creating direct and group message threads where they can safely share documents, images, and video.

Coming soon for general availability, these patient engagement solutions promise to enhance Updox’s full suite of solutions and products. Through the Updox CRM platform, providers can operate more effectively from within the same workflow the practice or pharmacy is already using and realize the immediate benefit of putting hours and dollars back into their business.
