The Freedom of Letting Go… of Paper

Paperless electronic fax service that works side-by-side with Greenway Prime Suite EHR.

When SouthEast Eye Specialists, an 18-location practice with 12 physicians and 125 staff members, with main locations in Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tennessee, sought an electronic fax system for their offices, they wanted a solution that offered better routing features, simple implementation and easy integration with their EHR. “The biggest benefit Updox offers is the ability to do multiple things at one time. We can send a document to a chart, file it and route it to other departments. The efficiency and workflows are amazing.  We can fax to multiple outside offices and file the document in the chart – all at the same time. The ability to annotate and route back electronically are key features that Updox offers for improved efficiency and service.”

Because of those efficiencies, Updox implementation was well received by the practice staff. Leanne Benson, Director of IT, calls Updox a “big win” for the practice. “Even staff who are resistant to change, once they realized what it could do, they wanted to use it and quickly adapted to the features.”

In addition to the cost savings of less paper, less toner, no fax machines or additional phone lines, Dr. McCarty is also pleased by the resource efficiencies Updox has helped the practice gain. “Our staff is much more productive and efficient. We now have five different fax numbers that go into one universal inbox – we don’t lose documents sent to the wrong office fax number and it’s easy to sort and route right from there since everything is easily integrated into our EHR.”
